Women Who Test the Water

Thirty community water scientists, six chemical parameters, one bold idea.

The strip changes colour in two minutes. In those two minutes, the woman holding it becomes a scientist — and her village becomes safer. Our water-quality testing programme has trained thirty community water scientists, each carrying authority her grandmother was never granted.

Our pledge

Asilindi advocates for the recognition, protection and sustainable management of indigenous and community-based natural springs in underserved and historically neglected villages across Nkandla, advancing water justice, environmental justice and social justice for rural communities.
